The Sky is the Limit

Captured during my first plane ride in over 20 years, The Sky is the Limit holds a personal place in my collection. I was en route to Georgia for my first (and only) camping trip.  Camera in hand and seated by the window - a gift from my travel companion - I was ready to document the journey through the lens.  Though many shots from that flight showed promise, they were marred by reflections or other parts of the plane.  And then… this one. Crisp, clear, and quietly powerful. I knew I had something special.

During the editing process, the phrase “The sky is the limit” came to mind—and it stuck.  Fitting for the moment, fitting for the image, and, as many customers have told me, perfect for graduation.  There’s a sense of forward momentum in this photo, a feeling that anything is possible. It makes a meaningful card for encouragement, celebration, or simply as a daily reminder of possibility.

Though I’ve tried to recreate this image on later flights, nothing has ever come close.  I do, however, get such a thrill when I capture any such image of the sun peeking through the clouds while on a plane.
